Sunday Afternoon and Reading

Two Local Favorites, One Sunday Afternoon

Sunday afternoon, January 26, 2025, at Pearl’s Bookstore in Fayetteville, Nancy Hartney will be available to sign her latest book, The Blue Bottle Tree. A Southern tale set in 1970 against the backdrop of winged bird hunting, she captures all the angst of broken families, the Civil Rights Movement chameleon changes, and the African wisdom of the Old Ones. Folklore and customs from the era abound in the pages of this novel as readers follow the struggles of Susan Pea Butler, Letta Davis, and Major Butler.

Hartney’s other books and blank notecards illustrated by local artists Susan Raymond and Graham Hawks will be available for purchase from 1:00 to 3:00 during the afternoon. Drop by, browse Pearl’s Bookstore collection, and get your copy of The Blue Bottle Tree signed.

  1. I’m enjoying reading “The Blue Bottle Tree”. The voices, thread, descriptions take me to places I’ve never been, yet seems so real.
